Max Howard and Ken Kirby, employees of Allen Brothers Roofing, Inc. in Rochester Hills, were selected as finalist for the National Roofing Contractor Association's Annual Most Valuable Player (MVP) Award. Allen Brothers nominated Howard and Kirby in the category of Community Service and Volunteerism for their efforts in helping to re-roof the Pentagon after the September 11th terrorist attacks in 2001. Both men received plaques that were presented at the NRCA National Convention in New Orleans this February.
Max, roofing since 1985 and Ken, since 1986 were sent to Washington to help re-roof the Pentagon after the terrorist attacks. It was a NRCA sponsored project where its members volunteered their time and skills. The Pentagon roof is primarily slate and Howard and Kirby are considered Allen Brothers best slate men.
"This was a great opportunity to help the country get back on its feet. We volunteered Max and Ken knowing they would be more than willing to help re-roof the damaged portion of the Pentagon, plus, it is their most special skill. We are extremely proud of them and the recognition they received," said Robert Allen, Owner and President of Allen Brothers, Inc.
